The Day The Block Appeared

In the small town of Norm, things never changed. No one seemed to mind until the day the block appeared. Nobody knows what it is or where it came from, and it causes some chaos at first. Gradually, the townspeople begin to embrace the block and celebrate it as a unique part of their community. Everyone, that is, except Mr. Lemon. Mr. Lemon is a sour, intolerable old man who wants to get rid of the block. He doesn’t think it belongs in the town of Norm. After many failed attempts to convince his neighbors to destroy the block, Mr. Lemon shuts everyone out and doesn’t leave his home for an entire year. On the anniversary of the day the block appeared, he discovers what has happened to the town of Norm.

This picture book explores the complexity of embracing change and finding peace with things even when you don’t fully understand them.
